On Saturday the Young Apprentice spent the day drafting block patterns, draping on the mannequin and handcraft skills

The class consisted of six students who were split into two groups. The first group who were Chanice, Shernice, and Natasha worked on various handcraft stitches such as basting stitch, overcast stitch and invisible stitch.
The girls thoroughly enjoyed the lesson although they said they found the stitches hard because they had never attempted this before.

The other group were busy draping on the mannequin. Ignacio showed the girls how to drape and they really had fun doing this.
Shani que draped and then marked out the darts and traced the outline of the bodycone and stitched it together.

Shani que’s toile turned out to be quite impressive, and she was very happy with the outcome as you can see in the picture above.
Overall it was a very productive day!
The Young Apprentices will continue working on their unique designs in preparation for their Big Prom day.
