Alvanon Supports Pattern Cutter’s In the Making
Nader Shaw Moradi (pictured right) can now continue his progress with the Perfect Patterns Course, led by Alice Prier, thanks to Alvanon’s generosity.
“Thank-you to Alvanon for this sponsorship, I very much appreciate being able to continue on the course, I was extremely disappointed when I thought I would have to leave due to lack of funding.
“I am doing the course because I used to be a tailor in Afghanistan and it was always my dream to be able to learn pattern cutting and to make beautiful dresses for ladies. I think ladies dresses can be much more complicated, interesting and fun to make.
“I came to Britain two and a half years ago – before that I was living in Greece for three years but it was very difficult to find work there and I need to work to look after my family. I have a wife and five year old daughter. My wish is to get a job in the fashion industry when I finish the course where I can use my new pattern cutting skills and my knowledge of sewing and tailoring that I bought with me from Afghanistan. I’m doing well so far and will keep you updated on my progress.”
Nader’s tutor Alice Prier responded:
“It’s wonderful news that Alvanon are able to offer Nader a bursary to enable him to do the Perfect Patterns Course – as his tutor I would like to thank them personally for their generosity.”
CEO of Fashion Enter, the FTA and FashionCapital Jenny Holloway added:
“Janice (pictured left) and Alvanon an enormous thank-you. You’re so appreciated by us all. Funding for vocational courses is horrendous at the moment. I have to ask what are we doing to FE – we are killing it off! Nader certainly has excellent skills and he was warmly received on the course. Then we were told there was no funding available for Nader and we racked our brains with how we could keep Nader here. Thank goodness Alvanon stepped in! We are expecting Nader to excel and who knows become part of our pattern making team too!
“Thank you Janice and best of luck Nader. Enjoy!”
