From Stitching Academy Student to Fashion Designer

Grace attended a trade show where she met Jenny Holloway who was a guest speaker. Jenny recommended the Stitching Academy at the Fashion Technology Academy (FTA) for Grace to gain a professional accredited qualification.

As the first academy of its kind in Europe the Fashion Technology Academy was the only place for Grace to learn the skills and techniques she needed to follow her dream of becoming a fashion designer.

Grace describes her experience at the FTA by commenting: “I was more than happy to undertake this course. Although I had many years of experience, undertaking the Stitching Academy Level 1 & 2 courses was one of the most amazing experiences I’ve had!

“I have learnt many different types of stitches and garment techniques such as lapels and jacket collars (my favourite) Mandarin Collar, Vents, Plain and Invisible Plackets, just to mention a few, these are new skillsets that I have achieved.

I feel I am more competent and well equipped to complete any sewing tasks I am given, Stitching Academy has given me the confidence to go into self-employment as a Fashion Designer, I am also confident enough to be adding soft furnishing to my business line.”

Grace found the FTA staff to be an integral part of her achievement stating: “The tutors go above and beyond to help the students learn and understand, they are very patient and encouraging, and the atmosphere is very welcoming and calming.

I would be more than delighted to highly recommend this course to anyone from beginner level to people who needs to refresh themselves in sewing. I am forever grateful to the course and the staff of the Stitching Academy.
