Leigh Odimah, 39 something Co-Director Sexie Booda

Born: In London England

Hi My name is Leigh Odimah I’m co-director of Sexie Booda, a fashion accessories label based in London England. Sexie Booda is a brand representing our personal style beliefs. That is style with attitude and personality, genuine and authentically us. Our main aims are to make the brand identifiable.

We use our name, personality and distinguishing detailing like bag linings and screen printing to set us apart from our competitors. We want to encapsulate ‘Sexie Booda’ as confident and charismatic so we use bold and idiosyncratic style, colour, texture, shapes and surface decoration to reflect the quirkiness of the brand. We experiment with contrast linings, such as traditional African Dutch wax cotton, vibrant coloured suede and 60’s style geometric prints. Mostly we follow our own style convictions and do not compromise them.

The idea to follow our dream has led us in many new directions which have enriched our experience of working in the UK fashion industry.

I’m grateful that Jennifer Holloway invited me to take part in Fashion-Enter’s Delivery Days it has been one of my most rewarding experiences. I am self taught, designing, marketing, business planning etc are skills I have had to learn in the process of running a business. However taking part as a guest speaker at Fashion-Enter’s Delivery Day gave me an insight into how useful and important it is to get involved in the industry with the support of experienced professional teaching staff behind you.

Speaking to students at outstanding universities like the London College Of Fashion and Ravensbourne I hope allowed them the opportunity to meet, discuss, and question real people working doing what they hope to do. I also learnt that I enjoy meeting students they’re enthusiasm is infectious you can’t help but connect other people who are genuinely interested in what your doing.

Fashion-Enter Ltd and Fashion Capital have made major inroads in connecting fashion industry personnel with the stars of the future, and I hope they are able to continue living their vision. I guess I must have enjoyed the experience more than I realised because I’m back at university studying for an Fashion Studies MA in Strategic Fashion Marketing at The London College of Fashion !
