BA (Hons) Fashion & Brand Promotion and Marketing

23-01-2006

UCLan’s BA(Hons) Fashion & Brand Promotion and Marketing course offers a natural combination of subjects that would be of particular interest to someone considering a career in a fashion-related marketing role.

Marketing at UCLan provides a foundation for commercial involvement in areas such as brand management, marketing research, advertising, public relations, retail distribution and services marketing.

Learning within the fashion areas is an interactive process and you are expected to adopt the role of reflective practitioner, and take an innovative approach to the subject using UCLan’s strong links within the fashion promotion industry.  Students develop skills in photography, graphic layout, visual presentation, advertising, market research and reports, trend prediction, and multimedia computer work, whilst engaging in critical thought, independent learning and creative problem-solving.

Most of your learning will take place in a studio environment, carried out in the dedicated year studios, with structured tutorial sessions timetabled through the semesters. Tutors will monitor, assess and evaluate work in progress and assess completed projects. You will also be expected to take responsibility for a degree of self managed research time.

Each module comprises a series of projects or assignments with clear aims and learning outcomes which are individually assessed, often through group critiques. We use a variety of feedback methods. Module assessment takes the form of a folio submission at the end of the semester.

Trips are arranged both at home and abroad to see fashion shows and exhibitions and you will have the opportunity to enter major design competitions and submit work for inclusion in high profile exhibitions both nationally and internationally.

Career opportunities exist in buying, magazine and newspaper journalism, advertising, multi media production, graphic layout, visual merchandising and many other related areas.  There are also further education opportunities with combined post graduate degrees.
