Higher Art; Higher English; SWAP Art or Equivalent

 

Subject Statement

Designers today play a vital role in innovation of designs, from computer games to cutlery, while artists, looking at the world afresh, strive to find new ways to make political, social or cultural statements, which aim to make you stop, look and question.

 

Course Aims
The aim of this course is to refine skills and develop personal creativity. You will learn to direct your own work and become a more independent creative thinker.

 

Course Content
This course offers more advanced units which cover a broad spectrum of Art and Design disciplines, allowing students to achieve competence in several areas. Broad areas of study include:

Drawing

Painting

Jewellery Design

Photography

Graphic Design

Work Placement

Producing Electronic Images

Ceramic Design

Printmaking

Art and Design History

Communication Skills

 

Teaching and Assessment Methods

Practical sessions, project work, tutor-directed assignments, tutorials

 

Progression Route

HND/Degree level courses in Art and Design

 

Career Opportunities

There are career opportunities in many Art and Design fields or in freelance practice.
