          PRESS RELEASE      New for Summer!……..Millinery Workshops

 

 

Katty Janneh is a Milliner based at the reputable Cockpit Arts in Deptford South London. Katty is launching a series of millinery workshops at her studios. She regularly teaches at her local colleges and her students often asked her to run her own class over the summer so they can keep their momentum going!

 

 

“ It is a craft that is slowly regaining its popularity. It is hard work…but you can see the results develop. It is such a calming relaxing thing to do believe it or not! I find it far less stressful to do than clothes because creativity has more of a say on the outcome of the hat rather than whether a skirt pattern fits right!”

 

 

COURSES AVAILABLE:

6-week evening course on Thursdays starting 28^th June, 7pm-9:30 pm

£65 excl. materials

 

 

Weekend workshops Sat & Sun 10-4pm each day, refreshments and materials

are provided £165

Dates for Summer are; 23/24 June, 14/15 or 21/22 July and 11/12 or 18/19

August.

 

 

“It is really rewarding to watch students evolve from thinking they cannot possibly make a hat to watching them realise what they have achieved!. One student went on to make her own piece for her wedding which turned out beautifully.”

 

 

Katty specialises in hand-made ‘button hats’ using glamorous fabrics and using vintage and recycled finds such as laces, jewellery, veiling and feathers. Using her fashion background manipulate fabrics, draping, beading and embroidery feature in her work.

 

 

Her collections have been stocked in Selfridges for many seasons and she also has a bridal range and offers a bespoke service.

Working collaborations have included The L boutique, Marc Powell Tailoring and Matthew Williamson.

 

 

Upcoming exhibitions include the London Design Festival in September and the Cockpit Open Studios in December.
