Aesthetics & Ergonomics

11-02-2008

Aesthetics are what makes people attracted to a product, the likes and dislikes may include; colour, pattern, style, texture ect. It’s not just about the visual but also other senses tell us what is aesthetically pleasing.

Colours collectively known as the spectrum, also appeal to us for different reasons. An experience may make the person like some colours compared to others or a colour could perhaps flatter their skin tone compared to other colours.

Lines and pattern can also determine is a product is aesthetically pleasing; for example vertical lines can add height or elongate a personas body. Curved lines can soften an effect or add impact.

Fashion is on a time period, so people’s opinions of what is aesthetically pleasing changes and can be easily altered.

Ergonomics is about the interaction of people and their personal environment.
