Carshalton College in Surrey offers a three-year Lifeskills programme, which is designed for students with a physical or mental disability. Their aim is to help as many of their students in finding work.

The first year of the course is college-based and it concentrates on forming relationships and to build the students confidence. The second year involves a two-week work experience placement at a chosen employer. The final year comprises of up to three days a week with a designated employer, with the other two days at the college, where they reinforce the skills they learn in the workplace.
For students who do not feel ready to participate in the vocational scheme, they have the choice to work within the college departments, where here they often feel more comfortable.
