The 30 candidates were invited in to get a days insight to garment technology and the apprenticeship programme. Given a chance to get a true understanding on garment technology the candidates were set a number of tasks by training and development manager Wendy Coley, including inspecting faulty garments and identifying the faults, understanding and learning the difference between critical and non-critical faults and filling in a quality report, all of which would be daily tasks for the potential-apprentices. Wendy then made sure those being interviewed were fully aware and understood the commitment of the apprenticeship programme discussing the role of garment technologist and being an apprentice, before candidates went on to have a one-to-one interview. The candidates have now been narrowed down to a final 15, who will go forward to second-stage interviews.

Wendy commented “The selected candidates were very responsive too all tasks set, it’s encouraging to see and speak to such an enthusiastic group of young individuals, clearly keen to kick-start their careers”
