Can You Cut It?
15-09-2005
If I had my time again I’d do a pattern making course, all too often when I paid for a new pattern to be created there would be something not quite right!
This would mean I’d have to take the pattern back to the pattern cutter and start tweaking it to get it right. This could happen three, four, five even six times to ensure the pattern and the resulting block would be perfect.
The LFF are constantly asked to recommend a pattern cutter who is commercially experienced; by a complete twist of fate we have now found one. Imelva Everitt popularly known as Mel, has a host of experiences that guarantee success including running the design department at Chelsea Girl, and in the retail trade for such as Caesar Fashions and O1.
We weren’t the only ones to spot Mel’s obvious talent. Ravensbourne College of Design and Technology also spotted the talent of Mel and her creative pattern making skills. The LFF in conjunction with Ravensbourne College have set up a totally unique course for the industry which covers the commercial production of patterns that factories can use that will be right the first time.
The seven week course starts on the 22nd October at Ravenbourne College and due to the intensity of the course places are limited and will be reserved strictly on a first come first serve basis; anybody interested in the course should contact Michael O’ Sullivan (details below).
Can You Cut It? Patterns for Industry – the Expert’s Way delivered by Mel Everitt an industry professional with 20 years experience.
