CCS Ltd Shows Designers The Right Wa
03-07-2007
A full review was given each designer from when the fabric arrives into the factory to when garments, all hanging like soldiers, are dispatched for the customer. Manufacturing needs to be appreciated by designers; a designer can create a state of the art garment but if it is not viable in production then all that time and effort is needlessly wasted.
Naz Hakus is the MD of CCS Ltd, an established garment manufacturing company that is steeped in family history. The unit is a major soft separates supplier for TopShop and has produced garments for all levels of TopShop production from main range skirts and dresses to the top range Boutique for Rachel Proud.
Naz Hakus, explained: “I agreed to undertake this workshop for Fashion Enter because I get sick and tired of new designers coming to see me and they just don’t understand production implications for their collections. Designers sometimes create collections in a vacuum, they don’t see the collection as a range but individual garments that are on many occasions far too trixy for commercial use. I was impressed by the caliber of most of the designers some where more switched on than others and one in particular who makes bags really caught my eye. I was so impressed with her collection that I am now sourcing a machine specifically to help her with her handbag production.”
It was unfortunate that there was the bomb scare the previous night as many of the designers had problems with inrrupted line services and the weather was particularly awful too! However, those that did brave the seminar were all totally satisfied with the workshop and the feedback was excellent.
“It’s very hard to discover these types of things if you are new to the industry, so it is good that Fashion-Enter has these kind of factory connections.” Alexandra Groover
“The seminar was brilliant and educational – Naz was great very clear about how we can go about placing orders! Thank you.” Sedaf Khan
“It’s very good to know manufacturers in London.” Ikuko Kuko
“Excellent opportunity to see the factory first hand and to see the different processes of garment manufacture.” Rajib Nandi
The next workshop is on Wednesday 11th July and a cross section of four CMT units will be reviewed. Anyone interested in attending this unique seminar should contact Vanessa Cameila on020 8462 9620 or email vanessa@fashion-enter.com
