LFW Sept 08 – Wildlifeworks

15-09-2008

Wildlifeworks chose to draw its inspirations from a ‘global traveller', with particular emphasis on Africa and ‘tribal mark making', that was used for the basis of the collections prints.

Silhouettes were floaty, with tiered a-lines and plenty of ruffles; with detailing taking the form of perfect pin tucks, superb smocking and dazzling sequins and embroideries. For a lazy summer days, I would definitely pack these pieces!

Carrying on from A/W '08 big trends, there was a definite 70's feel to the collection with off the shoulder maxi's, jumpsuits, leg of mutton sleeve detailing and tailored crop trousers.

Fabrics were wide ranging, and used in combination to create garments that were structurally interesting and wearable, from silk jersey, georgette, crepe and organic linens, they were prints, tucked and draped to create a clever collection of high fashion ‘eco wear'.

The collections colour palette reflected what I had already seen on the first day of fashion week. Prints perfectly combined blues, greens and whites, while coffee, white, navy and a lime yellow were the main block colours occasionally accented by gold and pale pinks.

With fashion growing more conscious of its effect on the environment, ecologically aware and friendly design houses have an ever growing market of consumers, and with brands like Wildlifeworks it looks like you can be super stylish and environmental all in one go!
