Art SPY

24-10-2008

Welcome to this week’s Art SPY

‘Art SPY’ brings you a selection of various Artists and Galleries that we find simply delightful!

Based in the South West I mainly focus on artist that are in Dorset as I am overwhelmed myself by the beautiful landscapes that surrond this magic part of the coastline.  It’s not hard to find artists as alot of artists do migrate this way in order to soak up the delights and to gain as much inspiration as possible.  This week we look at two artists who capture their environment with effortless ease.

I love the work of this artist due to the intensity of the figures which are arranged in an almost comical manner.  I love the way in which he has captured the essence of everyday life in a simplistic but very striking format.  The Farmers Wife is very funny riding on the tractor with her husband naked with what looks like a glass, or rather, a bucket of beer!

Artsist: Richard Adams

Richard Adams paints with a humour and fertile imagination that seem to know no bounds.

Born Hampshire in 1960, the Cotswold landscape has had a strong and lasting influence on his work. He received a BA Hons in Graphic Design at Leicester Polytechnic. Winner of many awards.

All Richard’s paintings are produced using chalk pastel. They are then fixed and soaked in a special varnish that leaves an impervious surface.

Richard Adams has exhibited regularly in London and elsewhere in Britain to great acclaim, and internationally in Sydney, Washington, Bremen and Madrid.

Emma Ball’s work is particularly lovely in that she again is very natural in her approach and paints with water colours depicting the classic sea-side town.
