Newstead Wood School Careers Convention

The career's convention provided the girls with a real insight into a range of careers ranging from law to fashion, and with fashion being one of the most popular and competitive subjects we were on hand to answer all their questions.
Throughout the evening over 50 young girls and their parents came to ask that all important career advice and how they should go about obtaining a career in the fashion industry. It was a joy speaking with the girls and you could see some of them had a real dedication and willingness to learn more. One young lady, Stephanie, was already well on her way having been approached by Mary Queen of Shops and expressing a desire to do a combined media and journalism degree at university.
During the convention we also had the opportunity to conduct a 30 minute presentation to those who were particularly interested, and having been allocated the largest room we had many budding designers wanting to learn more. We were able to give the students a unique insight into Fashion Enter and exactly what we do to support new and emerging fashion designers. They were also excited to learn that FashionCapital could help begin their fashion career now by promoting their work in the gallery section of the site.
The girls showed great interest with some of them having a feel passion for subject. Maybe the next Stella McCartney will set foot out of Newstead Wood School!
