Colour, colour, colour and more colour were seen at the International Spring Summer 2009 catwalk shows.  The future is certainly going to be bright and bold; we’ll see the most diverse range of fabrics in a whole spectrum of colours and shapes brought together on a much wider scale never seen before.

It will be the beginning of a unique move towards experimentation of colour and fabrics. Designers such as Alexander McQueen, Lanvin, Christian Lacroix, Anna Sui, Etro, Emilio Pucci, Matthew Williamson, and especially Basso & Brooke have all followed this trend.

Spring Summer 2009 will see the start of a whole set of design ideas through the clever use of print and pattern.  There is a huge movement out there in the form of…

Embroidered Autonomy
Embroidered Art, embellished embroidery over everything, tassels hanging down.  Beautiful cross and stitch patterns, embroidered pictures.

Creative Craft
Block patterns from any culture, Japan, China, Peru and South America.

Collage Culture
Anything goes, mix and match anything together such as patchwork.  Create change and a new way in which we dress. Smoking, embroidery, cut and paste all jumbled up together. Accumulating energy over ten years bringing everything together.

Out of the many designers supporting this look my favourite has to be Basso & Brooke simply because the way in which they mix and match fabrics which is truly amazing.  Their collection brought together and expressed everything this trend is going to convey to the consumer next summer.  This trend will even filter through to SS 2010.
