Enter Boutique Croydon New Opening Hours
09-02-2009

Could the credit crunch be hitting a little closer to home in the upmarket Centrale Shopping Centre of Croydon? Retailers have been requesting to open later and shut earlier for quite a while now as footfall at the beginning and end of each day is very low. Retailers residing in the shopping centre have therefore been forced to keep paying unnecessarily high overheads with very small expectations of making this back within these periods each day.
Although this final decision may be the influence of the credit crunch, the signs were evident a while back and this could have been implemented much earlier saving a lot of retailers and the shopping centre much needed money on the continuously increasing energy bills and also on staff wages.
The hours will change as of today, 9th February 2009 to:
Tuesday 10.00am – 6.30pm
Wednesday 10.00am – 6.30pm
Thursday 10.00am – 8.30pm
Friday 10.00am – 6.30pm
Saturday 09.00am – 7.00pm
Sunday 11.00am – 5.00pm
Although the early bird shopper may be less enthused by these adjustments, Saturday is actually opening half an hour earlier and remaining open until 7.00pm as before. All shoppers could potentially benefit from these changes as retailers are more likely to continue trading in this tough environment as expenditure is reduced and consumers will continue to purchase from their favourite regulars. However as less work is available for employees, staff could be laid off, which is beneficial for the business however could also contribute to the continuing soaring unemployment rate and therefore reduce disposable income in the local community and in turn the GDP which is an international measure of monetary output produced from each country.
