LFW Feb 09 – Betty Jackson

23-02-2009

Somehow yours truly ended up sitting front row at Betty Jackson, right opposite Erin O'Connor! In fact the front row was pretty spectacular, from comedians, TV presenters and rock stars daughters, it seemed the fashion crowd managed to make it out of bed today!

The show confirmed my suspicion, felted wool is the thing to be seen in next season.  Jackson felted everything, from structured pencil skirts to swishy A-lines.

Models were wrapped and draped in the softest wools, poncho style wraps, covered shrunken knits that had a real 40's feel.
Skirts and blouses were treated to mini peplums that shot out and frilled round, in the most delicate fashion. Silks were printed with delicate florals in a host of salmon, yellow and pale green.  This was used to form chic tea dresses, calf length trousers, teamed with thigh high, school girl socks.

There were some fantastically draped, over sized coats in a host of prints that looked like a diffusion of zebra print.
Garments were intensely detailed, with draped backs, tiered ruffles, loose pleats and cut out detailing. There truly was something for everyone.
Like in Ann-Sofie Back, velvet was another key trend shining through for next season. In gorgeous coffee tones, models flittered down in high waisted skirts, with draped front, velvet panels.

The palette was gorgeously wintery and actually made me excited for next Fall. Ice blue, pale grey, cream and coffee tones, accented by red, black, yellow and lime.
Statement necklaces were again in evidence, showing that this trend is here to stay.
The show closed to rapturous applause. Betty Jackson is yet again rocking the runay.
