LFW Feb 09 – Avsh Alom Gur
24-02-2009
This man is now nothing but a Scout institution. Having already shown for Ossie Clark this week, I imagine right now, AAG is looking forward to putting his feet up and having a nice cup of tea!

Taking an ironic look at the credit crunch, Gur presented, what can only be described as a cheeky selection of attention seeking clothes; brassily emblazoning playsuits, dresses and sheer tops with ‘Credit Crunch' in the most intricate beading. There was definitely a slightly ‘Russian' feel to the look. With huge, full, floor length skirts worked in both traditional floral prints and hems detailed in crochet flowers. There were some beautiful silk bodices that finished in sweetheart necklines with the top part in nude chiffon.
Though skirts and dresses were the main stay of the collection, Gur also offered up a selection of fitted playsuits, both asymmetric (one shouldered) and traditional, strapless, sweetheart necklines.
The Autumnal floral print, had an antique seventies vibe and this adorned everything from peasant blouses, dresses and a gorgeous silk, over sized trench.

Gur was aiming to present a playful collection, perhaps to lighten the mood and make us laugh at our doomed economic situation and he certainly did. Cute, cartoon prints adorned, maxi dresses that mixed black with powder pinks and lilacs. Big bows adorned the models hair, while PVC gloves (that have featured everywhere!) covered a single hand.
My favourite piece was definitely the purple jumper dress, it was so beautifully structured and textured, it may not have been the wackiest, but I really want one!
As Gur gave a little wave, he can be safe in the knowledge that EVERYONE will be talking about this collection for a while!
