Summer is Here
23-04-2009
Finally we can all stop wearing a million layers and big winter coats! This week I went on the look out for Summer Style at Alternative Fashion Week. Colour is back!!! After the moody greys and blacks of winter, colour is taking over London's streets. As trends predicted, guys are mixing neutral earthy tones with loud accent colours in accessories, summer jackets, shoes and t-shirts.
A bit of old with a bit of new is also very popular. By bringing your older clothes back to life with a bit of colour you are bringing the trends of the past seasons forward while adding a new colourful twist.
Checks, plaids and tartans aren't going anywhere! Whether a vintage waistcoat from Brick Lane, a vintage-look t-shirt from the high street or just something you couldn't let go of, adding red is a great way to give it new life.
We all love jeans and t-shirts guys! But adding something simple like a cardigan or over sized shirt gives a casual look a bit of smart without being too formal. With a casual outfit, good shoes are a must! Charity shop clothes can instantly go from being old to vintage with a new pair of trainers or some smart but worn in boots.

Whether you have some in the bottom of your wardrobe, are bidding for some on e-bay, fancy a trip round the vintage shops or want to go down Oxford Street and customise yourself a pair, you can't really go wrong with a pair of Nike Basketball Boots. For a formallook, All Saints Canvas Wax Boots or vintage style trainers give you worn-in quality.
Keeping with trend – accessories make the man!!! Whether it be a hat, glasses, armband or backpack you can give any outfit a bit of colour. Make a subtle statement! Also, layering a dark colour over a bright colour gives a glimpse without being over the top.
If you want to keep it formal this summer guys a smart jacket is a wardrobe must have!!! Whether wearing a dinner jacket, shirt and tie or a suit, it's easy to keep it summery. Formal wear with a casual twist is very on trend. Dress jeans and a t-shirt up with a fitted jacket, a shirt and tie down with bagginess or simply wear trainers with a tailored suit but don't forget to add a bit of colour and accessorise!!!
