Oak Lodge Primary School understanding the Fashion Industry
27-04-2009
Oak Lodge is a three form entry primary school catering for the needs of children aged 5-11. The school has some absolutely wonderful facilities including large bright classrooms, two halls, a large library, music rooms, a parents' room, a kiln room and small group rooms.

Fashion Enter visited Oak Lodge last week to give an introduction on What is Fashion? and was highly impressed with the calibre of the pupils.

Jenny Holloway commented:
‘This is the first time we have visited a primary school and I can honestly say it was a breath of fresh air. The pupils were extremely attentive, asking intelligent questions and showing a genuine interest in the subject.''

The agenda took the pupils through a step by step guide on what fashion is.

They looked at practical example of garments direct from the Enter Boutique and they had to guess the price points and what made a good seller and what a bad seller.

They also looked at everything that goes into selling a garment including:
Packaging
product positioning
labels,
hangers

They then explored brand identity and were able to get creative by making their own moodboards. The pupils showed great creativity and really got to grips with developing their own brands.
