FashionCapital's reputation for talent scouting is growing on a monthly basis with new enquiries being received from other high street retailers as well as overseas companies too – more to follow later with the China Connection for menswear.

Debenhams has a successful brand portfolio of approximately 55 own brands including 25 Designers at Debenhams brands. The Designers at Debenhams range offers customers exclusive product lines at mainstream prices by designers such as Jasper Conran, Julien Macdonald, John Rocha and Matthew Williamson. International brands are either bought by Debenhams or available through in-store concessions. Now they are looking to expand this offer and review the designers at Fashion Capital.

Debenhams also has over 140 stores including Desire by Debenhams stores, across the UK and Ireland with approximately 10.2 million square feet of trading space and around 22,000 employees. In addition Debenhams has over 35 International franchise stores in 16 countries outside the UK and Ireland, with a further 12 franchises scheduled to open by the end of the 2008 financial year.

Debenhams have been a dominate force in retail on Britain's high streets for many years and despite the current gloom on the high street Debenhams had a buoyant Christmas even though the group had discounted aggressively in the run-up to Christmas. Its like for like sales had fallen over the run up to Christmas but this was better than expected.  There is also significant speculation about the level of debt that is held by Debenhams which is reported to be over £1bn However Templeman the Chief Executive reported that the repayment of £100m in April is on track and going well.
