Warehouse Winter Collection 2009/10

17-07-2009

After 45mins of navigating public transport and several blisters later from my rather inappropriate heels, I finally arrived at my first collection preview. The location: a swanky members only club just off of Oxford Street-and yes I resisted sneaking into any stores. I am on strict orders. This is purely work: going into beautiful clubs, previewing Warehouse's Winter collection and coming back with knowledge and various snap shots to show and tell you all about it.

It felt surreal and frankly quite unnatural to not only be in a London club in daytime hours being served canapés and champagne (which I turned down- I'm working remember) but to be in amongst hard metallics, military cuts and intricate beading when my heads occupied with sweet summer dress.

However, once I got over the initial juxtaposition of the two seasons and I found myself in amongst lustrous, dramatic, sequined dresses, summer seamed to fade away and I was ready for Turkey Dinners and hot coco by the fire.

So now that I've set the scene lets talk about the collection:

To transition into the winter months the Day wear collection called Urban Tribe takes this summer's harem pant and tweaks it into the new high wasted peg chino this is 80's street style that has been washed down to create a relaxed and fresh look. They are paired with shoulder padded shirt dresses, moulded tailed sports jacket and cotton twill boyfriend jacket.

The Park Lane collection takes the iconic style of Audrey Hepburn and reforms it with tailored crop jackets and mini shift dresses and ruffle blouses peeping from beneath to give it a sexy yet innocent look.

The Modern Geisha look takes severe shapes and exaggerated cuts: specific focus on kimono sleeves and dress are essential to the look, as well as the usage of bright Japanese's inspired palette featuring luscious teals and deep plumbs.

Cloud is another of the transition ranges taking you from fall to winter its textured experiment with laundered fabrics cocooned with super sized knitwear are perfect for keeping stylish and cosy warm in the chill months.

Military is back this winter and the Tzarina collection uses boyish military cuts that have an unusual glam rock spin. The jacket is ornamented with bold frogging and the new shape of the legion trouser finnish the look.

But the highlight, by far, was the vast range of dramatic sequined waistcoats, jackets and dresses. The detailing was stunning: metallic studs, beads and sequins are intricately weaved together to create show stopping outfits that will keep you wonderfully festive in the Christmas months.

Warehouse have produced a season of cool, confident glamour that I can't wait to get my hands on and preview over I defiantly know what Santa's getting me for Christmas.
