Jump in Online Sales

25-08-2009

Despite the recession, online sales for July have shown an increase of 16.8% on last years figures, with one in 15 people making an online purchase during the month (a new record). With fashion retailers continuing to be the fastest growing sector, increases of 18% month-on-month and 17% year-on-year, this outperforms the high street by far.

Online Sales

Whilst online alcohol sales have declined by 23%, in a month that usually brings high volumes of sales, due to wet weather causing people to cancel summer barbeques. This very British summer we're having is likely to be one of the main causes for the jump in online fashion sales, with people avoiding trips out to the high street in the rain.
