Back To School

But don't despair! Think of the change of weather as an excuse for some necessary shopping.
September has always been my favourite month, the thrill of the annual trip of WHSmith, stocking up on new biros and colouring pencils has been (partly) replaced by the autumn/winter wardrobe (Don't get me wrong, I still love a new biro!) So, before we hit the shops we need to write a list, here's this Autumn's back to school wardrobe essentials.
We've got to start with the basics:
Footwear. (I may even be able to persuade the parents to chip in on these "essentials") Boots are a good place to start for the Autumn, if you fancy ankle boots then go for something tough, studded and leather, laces and buckles will score you extra points. If you want something fashion forward try some over the knee boots, these panto style boots have been revived a few times in the last few years so it seems it may be time to invest. I've been wearing my ankle boots all summer with little dresses, I'm looking forward to getting some chunky socks and tights on underneath them.

Which is just as well as this winter statement hosiery is making it big in fashion circles. Henry Holland's hosiery range for Pretty Polly have been gracing the legs of lovelies from Alexa Chung to Pixie Geldoff. Check out the full range at mytights.com, I've just ordered the alphabet pair and I'm gagging for them to arrive! Prints, patterns, colour and jewels are putting your legs centre stage this winter (and it doesn't even matter if you've let your legs go a bit King Kong!) If this eye catching style doesn't float your boat, try something a little more classic, a pair of cashmere tights will keep your legs so warm you'll be in minis all winter! (Yes!)

This may be my inner granny coming out but there is nothing I like better than a hand knitted jumper in the winter, chunky, lumpy and warm (even a bit scratchy) I don't mind! Seen at Alexander McQueen, Topshop Unique, Pringle and Missoni; Vogue is hailing this NW3 beauty but at £99 for home made chic, I'm thinking this may be taking a slight unnecessary chunk out of the student loan! Head to your local car boot sale, ask your granny or even better have a go yourself! (I've just mastered leg warmers but I'll get a cardie one day!)

Luckily you can afford to splurge on the must haves because a lot of your summer purchases will see you through the winter. Leather leggings, blazers, trophy jackets, jumpsuits and super shoulders, teamed with a few autumn/winter essentials will keep you up to date and leave you with enough money left over to relive fresher's week- yet again!
