Fashion Shenzhen : LFW Sept 09

22-09-2009

Aiming to gain an international audience in London, the three designers – Tangy, Ground Show and Xindier all brought their undeniable unique and artistic aesthetic to the shows.

Ground Show

First up to present was Ground Show.  Set to soft, transcendent tribal music, Ground Show's LFW debut featured a folksy themed collection bursting with every colour imaginable – fuschia and lime green layered knitwear, scarlet red polka dot harem trousers paired with a cobalt blue blouse, deep plum tone dresses and colour block tights.  Models cloaked in oversized dresses and jumpers were accessorised with bright pink and green head scarves, vibrant floral print quilted knee high boots and nude make-up.  Known for a purity and style reminiscent of nature and emotion, Ground Show's collection presentation, both inspired and refined, accomplished just that.

Xindier

As if paying tribute to Hestia, the Goddess of Fire, designer, Xie Haiping of Xindier presented a collection of dresses strictly in a bold, rich colour red adorned with details so intricate the sheer architecture of each dress was astounding. Pom poms, fringe, pleats, rosettes, origami flowers, plaits and butterfly pins to name a few. The uniqueness and complex design of each dress proved Xindier is a force to be reckoned with. The standout piece for me was a backless halter dress lined with silk chiffon petals exuding a delicate balance of both sexiness and class.   And while whispers of Issey Miyake designs murmured in the air, make no mistake, Xindier is in a class of its own.

Tangy

Not to be outdone by its predecessors, Tangy opened the show with (gasp!) shoeless models, splashed with white powder on their feet parading down the runway in a slow, dramatic walk. Using an earthy urban toned palette, the emphasis on designing specifically for the chic girl-about-town was quite evident from the very start.  Dresses, knitwear, blouses, skirts and trousers in every shape and size highlighted designer, Liang Zi's, vision to create a collection that is both wearable and elegant. A brocade blouse paired with a matching floor length skirt and silk ribbon belt, babydoll dresses lined with lace and beading detail, updated LBDs with zipper collars and colour block stripes and my personal favourite an ultra feminine light grey suit blazer with a wide open collar, gorgeous black beaded necklace and black silk trousers leaving the top half of the zipper open just enough the show off the inside patterned lining of the trouser. A collection of sophistication, perfection and grace- all courtesy of Tangy.
