Survival of Small Businesses

12-11-2009

So far at the end of October, we have learnt that, despite the expectations of some economists, the UK was still in the longest recession since records started in 1955. As far as small businesses experience is concerned, small businesses are close to being off the map completely. It is not much of a surprise, therefore, many businesses and their leaders are in a state of chaos and confusion as they keep struggling to make sense of what is happening around them and to their businesses.

Being in such an unstable and volatile place leads to fear and stress. This certainly does not help to maintain a healthy business. Because the more you stress the poorer business decisions you make, as well as adversely affecting your physical and mental health.

We need a better way of working and to do so we need to work with other businesses and pool our knowledge, skills and ideas for the common wealth and good. It is very advantageous for leaders to come together in an atmosphere of cooperation and freedom from competitive pressures, they find new ideas and are able to give and receive support from each other. They find a place to talk freely about issues in their business and to explore solutions without affecting the state of their business.
