The historic first live debate
16-04-2010
Big questions were asked throughout the evening that would affect all sorts of business including the fashion industry.
The three men who are tying to get the public on their side for the May 6th election stood in front of an audience in the Manchester ITV Studio. Brown for the Labour party, Cameron for the Conservative and Clegg for the Liberal Democrats, they looked relaxed and ready to go as the first question of the night was asked.
The first question was about migration, Cameron looked like he won the first round as he spoke about immigration being too high and how it has to come down. He went on to say ‘I want us to bring it down so it’s no longer an issue in politics.’ I think it was sad that the party’s largely avoided rising population in the U.K. Briton is expected to have 70 million residents by the year 2029, because of soaring net immigration.
The next question was on crime, the verdict on this round was a draw as all three leaders argued their policy strongly. Brown said ‘As long as anyone feels unsafe I feel we have to do more.’ Cameron said ‘We need to see more police on the street and longer sentences given to the criminals.’ finally Clegg made his point, ‘We have had so much tough talk from different party’s it has made our prisons into colleges of crime.’

The next big question was about cuts and tax’s. ‘We can not afford to take money out of the economy now. It means less jobs and less business’s.’ David Cameron answered with, ‘The tax on jobs is a jobs killer, it is a recovery killer.’ and finally Nick Clegg said, ‘We will have to be honest on how we save money.’ Mr Cameron and Mr Clegg equalled each other on to make cuts to public service with each on 36% while Mr Brown got 28%.
The live debate continued and its getting more clear that there was only one man who was was wining this debate. Nick Clegg expertly answered questions on N.H.S. He answered this with a blistering attack on bureaucratic waste of N.H.S. Squandering 1p in every pound. ‘5,000 managers were taking on last year…….yet the maternity ward where my third child was born may close down.’ he then went on to answer questions more impressive then his opponents on the subject of Elderly. ‘This is one of those rare issues which are so big and the coasts are so great that we should set aside our difficulty and come together with a solution.’
Nick Clegg was the big surprise of the night as he looked and spoke with the most confident out of the three leaders. One hour after the live debate a public poll was taken and the results showed a clear win for The Liberal Democrats with 43% of the votes, the Conservatives got 26% while the Gordon brown and the labour party got 20%.

Nick Cleeg has emerged now as a major player in the election. Lib Dem Vince Cable after the debate compared Clegg to Barack Obama, these sort of comparsments will give Mr Clegg more confidence to win.
Last week most people thought the general election would be a two horse race between Brown and Cameron, but after last night I think it is this election is now going to be the closest in years with The Liberal Democrats with a strong chance of wining.
There are two more live debates on television to come, and then after that it up to you and me to make are vote and put the right man in charge of the country. What ever happen we will find out on May 6th 2010 who will be leading the United kingdom.
