To The Prom!
17-05-2010
Now as prom season rolls around for high schools worldwide, the search for finding the right dress can be the hardest task; especially if you don’t want to look like a typical American stereotype and you want to hit all the fashion trends. The choice of dresses that suddenly fill stores is a shoppers’ delight, and a perfect excuse to indulge in a gorgeous new-season dress, even if you’re not going to a prom.
These days for millions of teenagers (including myself), it’s an excuse for an expensive dress and fabulous shoes – here’s my pick of the best prom style dresses on the high street and from the designers, perfect for prom or summer parties…

Goddess Maxi Dress – £180 Coast
Exude understated glamour and sophistication in this simple, pleated ivory maxi. Add some simple gold jewellery and strappy shoes to set it off.

Sequined Strapless Dress – £885 Alexander Wang
Go all out to impress with this midnight sequinned Alexander Wang number. Keep the accessories minimal to avoid looking like a Christmas decoration, but go for some touch black shoes to tie in the belt.

Slouch Sequin Embellished Tank Dress – £195 Reiss
Work this neutral relaxed dress with nude peep toes and an oversized clutch for an easy, completely wearable look.
Silk-taffeta asymmetric mini dress – £1227 Sonia Rykiel
Dare to work this standout dress that hits both pastel and feminine trends in a super ostentatious way! Keep accessories to the bare minimum except for some metallic heels.

Ruffle-embellished silk bustier dress – £495 D&G Dolce and Gabbana
Possibly the best prom dress I’ve found! Channel just a healthy amount of American prom in this fabulous frilly frock from D&G. Choose shoes carefully to avoid overshadowing the fuchsia bow and add delicate gold chain jewellery.

Pleated Smock Tunic – £40 Topshop
This classic knife-pleat dress is a perfect backdrop for some bold eye-catching accessories

Pleated Corset Chiffon Dress – £65 Lipsy
A perfect nod to the draped and pastel trends of this season, this floaty pink dress is a chic, feminine choice. Toughen up with studs and black leather or pair with beautiful metallic shoes and a soft clutch.
