Next Autumn Winter Collection
29-07-2010

Flirtatious trends and shimmery catwalk designs captured audience members eyes in central London yesterday as Next revealed the autumn winter collection for 2010.

The fashion show painted potent mental imagery of an arctic winter Christmas, themed catwalk compiled with sheer mesh with glitter, jewel draped one shoulder asymmetric dresses and gold foil metallics; totally setting the tone for this years holidays and partying in style.

Continuing with the Canadian/Arctic ice themed fashion trends this Christmas; faux fur and feather clutches dominated the catwalk as the key accessory in true polar bear/ white wolf style. As well as chunky British patterened knitwear, layers of lace and retro style including Lady Gaga inspired bodysuits were also introduced on the catwalk.

The central theme in the mens collection was the Lumberjack style, a wide range of flannel and loose fitting checkered shirts, fur ear muffs and collars. This crossed over to Womenswear which similarly included Lumberjack fashion in the style of Ashley Olsen and Lindsay Lohan this fall consisting of over sized plaid shirts for a relaxed but chic look.

Parallel to last season, the Next autumn winter collection for men still holds a wide range of Brogues, skinny jeans, oversized Norwegian style cardigans and knitwear, tailored suits and low rise jeans.
The introduction to the Skinny suit for the modern working man has proven popular along with the classic Winkle picker boots as it presents a more laid back and trendy approach to work wear.

Feather trim dresses, Pocahontas style fringing and 20’s drop waist dresses dominated the evening wear selection as well as Underwear outerwear for instance in the baby doll camisole shaped dresses, the fashion forward rocky lace which is both gothic and current trends combined. Body con dresses made a comeback this year at the Next fashion show. The classic trends and culture combination created versatility and inspiring looks on the catwalk yesterday.
One particular item that stood out was the funky fresh acid wash black high wasted rara which most fashion forward individuals would be aware is an item which moves in and out of fashion constantly, but the updated design and the new wash would appeal to a wide range of individuals.

The cow girl/ cow boy and boho look appeared on the catwalk for this winter, including leather merged with fur, a lot of worn out and distressed browns and metal studs
For Mens evening wear classic velvet 50s white jackets ruled the catwalk as well as the distressed/worn out leather look. There were a lot of fur trim for men on particular items of clothing, leather hunter style boots in both the men and Womenswear collection and a variety of lazy slouch boots.
Women’s footwear consisted of strappy and ribbon lace up shoes drizzled with Jewel and diamante embellishments referring back to the winter and Christmas theme. The wedge craze this summer was still included as were the buckle strap sandal heels extracted from the La Resistance collection.

Matte brushed leather brogue wedges, footwear with folded details including fur on top and Black edgy footwear with metallic trims proved to be very popular on the catwalk.
On a whole the autumn winter 2010 collection had a positive impact on the audience members and should be admired amongst shoppers once the new collection hits the stores. Another positive is that the items appeals and caters to a wide age range of individuals; mothers, fathers, sons and daughters.
