How To Wear The Iconic Fur Coat For A/W11
02-12-2011

During the winter months we all need a bit of comfort and warmth to brighten our days, so what better way of feeling snug and looking glam than by wearing a fur coat? Many a star has graced the camera wearing the fur coat, and I am sure its legend will live on for years to come.
Now please don’t rush to any conclusions, I am not at all promoting the fur industry in fact faux fur is the only thing I own, walking around with a dead skin on my back is just not the way forward for me. Although many designers will disagree with this comment, especially the Italians… My opinion is that if you must buy real fur then make sure it is bought from a vintage store.
The best thing about owning a fur coat is that it never ages, it will always remain timeless and that is the epitome of style. So if you haven’t already got a furry friend in your wardrobe (let’s keep It clean girls!) then you need to invest in one ASAP, as the future is furry!

So how do I wear my coat this year to stay on trend, I hear you ask! Well there are two different styles for night and day. For daytime keep it simple wear your fur with knee high boots and a thigh skimming dress, perfect for 60s chic smart casual, then for colder mornings pair dark skinnies with Chelsea boots and your choice of a jumper or blouse. Effortlessly cool you will remain gorgeous without having the embarrassment of chattering teeth.

Think big bold and stunning, midi length dresses and silk jumpsuits move you into night time finesse. The fur coat need not swallow up your outfit; you can get cropped fur jackets for a 40s evening flavour, or wear a longer fur with a waist belt for a classier edge. For those special nights go seductively stylish and opt for stilettos and a leg flaunting dress, team with metallics for A/W11 luxe.
Trend To Watch

Smokey lashed eyes hidden amongst a web of tangled hair, the rock chick is back but this time with vengeance. She comes in the form of a 70s glam rocker, beautiful bright coloured shaggy fur coats are all the rage for this trend. Popular with the younger woman and the fashion savvy, this look is all about being colourful with dark but playful undertones. Please don’t make the mistake of interpreting this trend as an image from the 90s as you are wrong, do not wear with denim or a bindi please!
