For those who can recall the fashion of the 80’s, will also be able to trace back to the explosion of the club scenes, resulting in many opportunities for dressing up. “The clothing was just as essential as the music” says Claire Wilcox head of fashion at the V&A. The club scene greatly influenced a new era of designers and this is exactly what the exhibition showcases how a relationship was formed between the catwalk and club worthy clothing which reinvented fashion.

The 80’s was when London fashion really started to create an impact worldwide. Fashion shows took place globally but a show that grabbed the attention of many named ‘London Goes to Tokyo’ was particularly iconic and included many of the designers whose designs will be displayed at the V&A. The extreme creativity of these designers has to be owed to the inspiration they gained from many nights exposed to the vibrancy of the London club scene. The exhibition will run until the 14th February 2014.
