The Oriental Trend

29-08-2013

Oriental is a top trend this season and is available everywhere! From the catwalks of Belle Sauvage to the high street, this versatile trend consists of a mix between heavily embroidered and beaded kimonos made in deep colours to office wear in vibrant, exotic prints.

Designers have made the most of the Oriental culture through the use of well known patterns and designs from China and Japan; incorporating small floral patterns, lotus flowers, fire dragons, blossom trees into the designs.

This cool and stylish trend has jumped straight from the Spring/Summer 2013 catwalks of Vivienne Westwood, Emilio Pucci, Prada and Jean Paul Gautier to name a few! With obi sashes, kimono sleeves, origami pleating and hints of Hanoi, Beijing and Tokyo coming through in each collection; I think its safe to say that the catwalk has nailed this trend! High street stores like Topshop and River Island have also embraced the Asian trend; stocking various kimonos and oriental inspired skirts and dresses.

Many of our wonderful starlets have channelled this seasons trend; including Miley Cyrus and Lucy Mecklenburgh.

Miley stepped out ready for her appearance at Hits1 SiriusXM studios in New York sporting the new trend. Her Emilio Pucci ensemble consisted of a cobalt blue, fire dragon embroidered jacket with a matching pencil skirt; working the hot colour of this year, cobalt blue, and the oriental dragon pattern together makes Miley bang on trend!

Lucy Mecklenburgh looked as chic as ever on a recent night out with co-stars and friends Sam Faiers and Jessica Wright. Lucy opted for a silk jacket and matching cigarette pants featuring a blue oriental-style design. Completing the look with a simple white t-shirt and matching stilettos, a blue bag and a beautiful, shimmering necklace; Lucy’s accessories worked perfectly!
