Production: Looking for the Right Machine and Genuine Advice?

18-10-2007

Despite all the doom and gloom regarding the retail market of late there is one retail unit that is certainly thriving. At 409, Green Lanes, London N4, Chris Pantelli – Sewing Machine Engineers staff are constantly meeting and greeting customers ranging from a host of small designers, factory owners to high street retailers.

Marios is the main man, whether you need a part for a machine, a new iron, or an industrial flat machine then there really is only one place to go if you want genuine advice and spot-on information.

Marios is the son of Chris, the original founder of the business back in 1960s. Chris came over to England in 1957 and initially went to London College of Fashion to train as a mechanic in the industry. He worked for a variety of large manufacturers that were of the moment such as Davidson Field before spotting the opportunity of supplying the rag trade with quality machines and advice in 1966.

Chris and his son Marios have not looked back since. There have obviously been both good and bad times in retailing and wholesaling of machines but as Marios explained there is currently great activity at the moment.

“Without doubt there is resurgence in the local CMT manufacturing at the moment. We are working closely with a few high street retailers who are bringing sampling in-house by using their own design teams, we also have a lot of designer makers that are doing their own production runs too. In the last six months however demand from CMT units has also increased significantly…I’d definitely say that London manufacturing is on the up.”
