Sarah Ann Says: Top tips for this season

21-04-2010

· Leather continues to be in. For those cool spring/summer evenings stay on trend with a three quarter length sleeve leather jacket, for the more adventurous of you go all out with leather hot pants as sported by Whitney Port of ‘The Hills’.

· Cargo trousers are big news. Go for a tapered leg, those with larger calves find cuts that finish at the knee or ankle. Avoid them finishing at the widest part of your leg as this can exaggerate the size.

· High waisted clothing items are still in. I’m loving the larger waist band, teamed with a skinny belt and simple vest to look effortlessly chic.

· Tangerine for lips is this seasons must have colour. Remember girls if your going for a bold lip do natural, soft eyes, never both!

· Revamp your denim by chopping that old pair of jeans you have sitting in your wardrobe, sandpaper and scissors are essential, don’t be scared to be rough! Cut to a length that best suits you. For short shorts leave pockets hanging out the bottom.

· Ray Bans are timeless, invest in a pair now. Always go for a fitting as they range in size. My absolute fav, green tint with gold rim as worn by the beautiful Megan Fox however what suits one skin tone may not suit another.

· Put Uggs away, I love them but its time girls, summer is on its way so make the most of it! Go get a pedicure, get those sandals on and show those toes!

· Maxi dresses are big, big, big on and off the red carpet. There’s a style to suit every shape and size. The larger of us ladies keep to the small prints whilst the more petit size can go for a large block colour. Always remember the small boutiques for those hidden treasures.

· For your hair to look glamorous yet effortless go for the ‘shaggy up do’. Easily done; Curl it, shake it, pin it. Don’t be to careful, texture adds interest!!!

· Floral is still big news. To add a feminine touch to any outfit add hair pieces. Topshop have a great selection at the moment. Those of you wanting to go all out try the new in floral leggings, promising to be huge!

· For you rock chicks out there get yourself a pair of ‘worker boots’. Team these with your shortest of shorts to show off those pins.

· Underwear is outwear, if you’ve got it, flaunt it! Wear with a blazer and a baggy cargo pant for ultimate sexiness.

Top tip; Go and get a fitting for your true size. Nothing looks better than proper fitting underwear, start from the inside out.

· Waterfall jackets are a must have style however I recommend not spending a lot of cash. I love mine but I don’t think they are going to be around for ever. New Look have a fab, inexpensive range starting at £15.00.

· Be confident in your natural skin colour, take a look at Nicola Roberts (Girls Aloud). However if you have to fake it, don’t bake it. Look at tinted moisturisers to build up a gradual tan. Make sure you wash your hands-no orange please.

· Explore your local charity and vintage shops for those one off t’s. They look great with open shirts and floral skirts. The best bit is no one else will have one!

· With Sex and the City 2 soon to be released we eagerly await the fashion fun feast of Patricia Field and style icon SJP. Get the popcorn and the credit cards ready girls.

As with all style advice ladies its what suits you best, confidence is key!
