Epilator Review
19-07-2010
I first used an epilator about 6 years ago, it wasn’t very pleasant to say the least, and I only used it once before I shoved it in a draw. I found the epilator painful however this surprised me, as I always believed I had quite a high pain threshold when it came to other hair removal techniques. Knowing all this, when I received my new epilator, I was slightly apprehensive. The epilator unit itself is very pleasant looking, it is shimmery white and is ergonomically designed to fit comfortably in your hand. It has two settings and I decided to try the fastest setting as this would remove the hair quickly. Once I turned the unit on it set in motion 10s of small tweezer ends’ whizzing round the head of the epilator. It also boasts a very nifty smart light that shines up the blondest of hairs making them easier to see. You can adapt the head of the epilator with different shape shields so that you can use it on underarm, legs, and bikini line areas as well as upper lip.

The first area I tried the epilator on was my legs. I had let my hairs grow for a few days so I had about 2 mm of growth although some of my hairs were shorter. I started at my ankle and moved quickly up my leg. I won’t lie, it did pinch at first but the more I did it the less it hurt. I was very surprised that I quite enjoyed using it and with the clever light I cleared all the hairs. When it came to the knee, the head of the epilator pivoted to smoothly hug the shape of the knee. This was the trickiest area to work over. The epilator also has a massage system that stimulates the skin before and soothes it after hair removal to clearly reduce the pain sensation. The Braun epilator promises to clear all hairs, even those as small as a grain of sand.
After I had finished the treatment I had removed almost all of my hairs and even though my skin has the tendency to be sensitive, I had no redness or irritation. With other similar methods of hair removal, such as waxing, my skin can be more irritated due to the heat from the wax and a layer of skin being removed. I feel the epilator is very reasonable as over the time you use it you will never need to buy any additional products for hair removal again and the more you use the epilator, the more your hair growth should be reduced.
The second time I used the epilator was a few weeks later. The revolutionary design is suitable to be used wet and dry so I tried using it in the bath. The warm water added in making the hair removal more comfortable and opened the hair follicles. After each use I effortlessly rinsed the epilator under the tap to remove all traces of hair. The rechargeable cordless models give you the freedom to epilate in comfort wherever and whenever desired and with a 40-minute running time when fully charged (enough for a full epilation) they run for longer than most epilators on the market today.
