It’s not all jeans and boots on the streets this winter, as legwarmers buck the trend and add a quirky and youthful edge to style on the street.

Perfect for winter months, this eighties accessory can be worn with skirts trousers, tights or leggings – take inspiration from Flashdance and the kids from Fame, but also early Madonna or Karen O for a cool take on thrift-shop mix and match appeal.

For a cute but kitsch look team legwarmers with ballet pumps, or for a sportier effect substitute boots for legwarmers and wear over trousers.  This look is not usually about subtlety, so contrast legwarmers and tights or leggings colours  for impact, or combine legwarmers with socks for multi-coloured effects.  Matching legwarmers and leggings colours  produces more streamlined effects especially when leg exposure is kept to a minimum.
