Luz de Laguna                        7th Feb – 7th March 2005

Sure to become a major hit with fashion lovers in London, Luz Mendoza, designer of Luz de Laguna, uses the most beautiful fabrics and trims with traditional embroidery, harking back to the ideals of craftsmanship.

Luz has a very unusual background to the typical designer. She came to the UK from Spain over nine years ago and after conquering the English language she then went on to study Information Technology at University. Utterly bored by the choice on the high street, she has followed her heart and with determined ambition, taken that plunge: “working in IT encouraged my attention to detail, but I just knew my creative side would have to take over! My first collection was received so well [in Scotland], that I have been desperate to show in London – it is so wonderful to realise my dreams”

Luz de Laguna, founded in September last year, is an alternative to the mono-look of the high street anywhere in the UK, the brand provides beautiful designs made out of the softest wools and silks with funky prints for the girl about town. The interiors of the bags are always fresh and colourful, making each one unique. Luz de Laguna combines refreshing feminine details with playful elegance.

The collection is currently available in the following Edinburgh boutiques: Doris&Mary and Clue, and will be soon be available on www.velvetboutique.co.uk , www.fashioncapital.co.uk and www.luzdelaguna.com.

Lofty & Ginger             14th – 28th March 2005

Lofty & Ginger is a partnership between Edinburgh based designers Louise Logan and Lucy Brown, producing womenswear, accessories and homewear.

Our accessories range is developed from our ever expanding collection of vintage fabrics, buckles, buttons and embroideries. Each piece is hand made and unique, usually incorporating linen or cord as well as vintage silk scarves, 1960’s floral prints or mother of pearl buckles.

Our women’s daywear collection draws inspiration from our vintage fabrics and prints. We print our own designs onto limited edition t-shirts and appliqué vintage fabrics onto our own skirts. This is an easy to wear, quirky addition to our collection of one off pieces.

Lofty & Ginger is currently stocked in Concrete Wardrobe, Ness and Bliss in Edinburgh. We have previously sold in Anna’s of Primrose Hill and at Spitalfields Market in London.

Global Guru                 7th March – 4th April 2005

Global Guru’s individual, high quality, quirkily designed products are a must for those who love prints. Inspirations from the designer, Morag MacPherson’s, travel experiences are very important to the whole ethos of Global Guru.  A six week tour of Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia gives the designs an Oriental, Far Eastern feel with influences from Japanese and Indian imagery. These are juxtaposed with designs inspired by American Pop-Art and Spanish Modern Art, immersing this limited edition collection of digitally printed silk scarves in vibrant colour.

Global Guru was created and launched in April 2003 by Morag MacPherson, a Graphic Artist of 10 years, who is shifting her focus to surface pattern and printed textile design for the fashion marketplace. Her wealth of design experience gained from the graphics industry has enabled her to apply her skills both creatively and in business, to her new venture involving both design and manufacturing.
