Leggings
Although the combination of leggings and skirts is not a particularly new trend, the appeal of the look does not seem to be dwindling. Ideal for transitional wardrobes, leggings remain a youth- market staple and provide the perfect garment for cultivating a skate-punk or rock-inspired look.
Legging lengths vary from mid-calf or shin-length to just above the ankle, or just below the knee. Short flippy skirts or denim pencil minis are key for creating youthful effects, although longer-length skirts, finishing below knee-length create a fresher silhouette. Must have legging colours are basic black and white. Team with flat pump-style shoes and add legwarmers for a real 80’s feel.

Layering trousers and leggings – with just a small section of leggings on show from beneath a trouser hem produces directional looks. Going forward, sweatpants are a possible alternative to leggings, preferably in marl grey palettes, worn with longer gathered or short cheerleader-style skirts.
