The continual rise of Hunki Dori!

Label Hunki Dori and their product Jean Jemsâ„¢ has received phenomenal growth over the last few months.  Their journey has been one of many ups and downs but the husband and wife team Mark and Sharon have achieved so much in so little time.


 


To have a dream is ambitious to aspire to but to turn that dream into a reality takes real drive and determination.  Sharon Edgley, Creative Director of Hunki Dori, has provided the LFF with a short account of recent events which just goes to prove that you really can reach for the moon!

“Exposure is key! There is simply no point in launching yourself unless you have had sufficient coverage or are building up your profile.  Hunki Dori was featured on ITV’s This Morning by John Scott (a free lance fashion correspondent) last week.  He said the gems were great pieces and “He loved it”. The pieces were shown very close–up on the camera and an explanation was given on how they work.  Through this exposure Hunki Dori picked up a couple of new shops to stock their items.  Hunki Dori was also featured in The Daily Express which resulted in much interest.


 


Current business ventures include a new online retail and wholesale shop which has recently been launched and expected to go live next week.  Hunki Dori will also be on the www.fashioncapital.co.uk boutique so keep your eyes peeled…..I still can’t believe that this site now receives over 4m hits a month – incredible.

As with every business you will expect highs and lows such as manufacturing faults, returns, complaints and  the very occasional grumpy customer.  It is very important to build up a good rapour amongst your customers! Customer satisfaction is very important and we have quickly realised that word of mouth is one of the most powerful tools of advertising.”


 


Sharon is keen to point out that they have an excellent relationship with their supplier Big Metal. . “It is so important to build excellent working foundations right from the start as we have with our supplier Big Metal. We now work together as a team and they have been highly supportive helping to facilitate growth.”


 


Hunki Dori has recorded exceptional growth – in just four months they now have over 70 stockists across the UK and overseas and an online shop.


 


 



 


You have to be completely motivated, determined and work focused. Hunki Dori has been very lucky in that they have been in the right place at the right time and worked with the right people.  The old saying “It’s not what you know but who you know” is so true. A point in example is the mum of one of Sharon’s daughter’s playmates. The mum knows John Scott from This Morning programme. Her best friend has her own PR consultancy agency specialising in fashion whilst her sister owns a gym in Belsize Park and lives four doors away from Sadie Frost!  Next week her sister will be arranging a display of the jean jemsâ„¢ in the gym.  So you never know Sadie might pick up on them! You have to create your luck too.”


 


Finally Sharon would like to offer words of encouragement to all the FashionCapital entrepreneurs out there


 


“You have to constantly think of new marketing angles and keep plugging away.  Getting the products into the shop is only the beginning.  You have to keep fighting all the way but it is certainly worth the fight!!”
