Lord Andrew Stone proves a great host

 

  

On Wednesday four lucky designers: Georgina Abbot, Daniela Benson, Francesca Colomb and Lisa Larson were selected to have the opportunity of a lifetime to have a guided tour of the House of Lords with Lord Andrew Sone of Blackheath plus have the delights of afternoon tea.

 

The event began with a guided tour of the House of Lords by Lord Stone which provided an amazing opportunity for the four designers.  The building, built in 1850s, is extraordinary with great history and is highly presitgious.  The House of Lords has many roles, however the main function is to examine and pass legislation.

 

 

 

The designers were invited to observe a debate in the Chambers where discussions were taking place regarding the economic climate of the UK.  In particular retail was discussed and the demise in retail sales and the high level of debt held by the British public due to remortgaging of property.

 

After the debate the designers were invited for traditional afternoon tea fully inclusive of cream teas, crumpets and toasted teacakes!  During the tea the designers had the chance to review their company to Lord Stone.  Lord Stone with his wide breadth of knowledge of the fashion industry then provided valuable pointers, network contacts and general business advice to each designer.
