Ship-shape!
Classic or quirky, this season’s nautical styling goes hand-in-hand with the current vogue for military-inspired dressing.
On the street, cropped reefer-style jackets look hot with jeans and boots, and basic Breton stripes create cool nautical-inspired looks when worn with denim. Indigo-blue tailored trenchcoats are suitably chic and cuffed pedal-pushers are big on wayfarer appeal.
Shorts prove essential, for creating a classic naval look, particularly in bright white with brass button detailing. Polka dot neckerchiefs add a pirate air to an outfit. Juxtapose prints – stripey jackets and spotted scarves, for added jaunty appeal.
It’s a long way from classic blazers and wide-legged trousers on the street as navy and white combinations of leggings worn layered with cute skirts and sailor-style pumps update the nautical trend at a rate of knots.
Seasonal must-have the wedge, proves ideal footwear choice especially in navy blue with espadrille soles. Alternatively, nautical styling re-works the deck shoe with striped elasticated panels and contrast tipping. Land ahoy!
