LFF – Clotheshow Live Judge!

21-06-2005

Jenny Holloway, Industry Advisor for the London Fashion Forum, will join a panel of clothing industry experts to decide which of the 230 entrants will go through to the grand final at the Clotheshow Live in December.  The forty finalists will see their designs modelled on the main stage in front of 5,000 people.

Now in its second year, Can U Cut It? is the largest industry-support technical competition for further education and sixth form students.  It was created in response to employers’ concerns that fashion students often enter the industry without the pattern cutting and garment-making skills they need to make their design ideas a reality.

Jenny said, “The Clotheshow Live is the largest fashion event in the world, so the stakes are high for students competing for a place in the final.  I believe that this year’s competition has almost double the number of entries, so it will be challenging for all the judges to review and select the finalists. The UK has over 7,000 post graduates a year leaving higher education – Can u Cut it provides an excellent platform to help talented designers start their fashion careers. Best of luck to everyone.”

Tom Edge, Chairman of CAPITB Trust, which has sponsored the competition, said, “We are delighted that we have been able to attract judges like Jenny, who really understand the fashion industry from the inside.  It is great that the students will be able to network with the judges and get the benefit of their experience.”

Ends.
