For One Month Only…

07-09-2005

{mosimage}There are lots of myths in fashion, one being that journalists, models, stylists and the like are privy to hand-outs and goodie bags galore. Indeed, there are gifts often placed on chairs at catwalk shows but for the most part such gems are reserved for the fashion elite. The front row faces, the celebs, top buyers and international press.

Tom Bottomley is one of the lucky few. The former vintage market trader turned style scribe over seven years ago and has since become a regular contributor to some of the industries most influential fashion glossies. Unlike some who nonchalantly leave those goodie bags behind Bottomley collects and hoards absolutely everything. From one-off samples to vintage threads and exclusive brand pieces – he collects like there’s no tomorrow.

“I never thought I’d reach the day when I’d let some of these gems go.”

Filling up wardrobes, sheds, lofts and garages, Bottomley realized enough is enough and has bravely decided to sell off the lot. “I never thought I’d reach the day when I’d let some of these gems go,” says Bottomley. “I’ve driven my mum, nan and ex-partner mad for years with all my bin bags full of gear, so I’m clearing the deck and most of their storage space!”

“You’d be a fashion fool on the hill to miss it.”

Bottomley has taken on a shop for ‘One Month Only’ on the very chic Newburgh Street, W1. Amongst the very eclectic mix you’ll find a selection of hip vintage waistcoats and Pea jackets, while checked hunting jackets will hit the store in week two. There’s merchandise for men and women, most of which is brand spanking new and in top-notch condition. Bottomley adds that: “You’d be a fashion fool on the hill to miss it.”

{mosimage}The store has just opened its doors for the first time this week and offers a fantastic range of shoes, trainers and accessories along with Bottomley’s fine selection of stylish gems.
