Delivery Day so successful Secondary School now involved.
31-10-2005
As part of our learning remit the LFF is now to conduct a six week intensive Delivery Day at Langley Park School for Boys (LPSB) providing a unique course for a unique school.
LPSB is a comprehensive school with 1336 pupils including 301 six form students. It is larger than most secondary schools and is situated in the Eden Park area of the London Borough of Bromley. The pupils have a range of backgrounds and circumstances and is highly regarded.
According to a recent 2002 Ofsted Report LPSB is a very good school with many outstanding features. Standards are well above average and pupils at all levels achieve very well. The school is also becoming increasing well equipped to meet the needs of the pupils in the 21st Century and is skilfully embracing the needs for change whilst upholding high quality relationships and an emphasis on hard work and hence this innovative new programme for fashion and design with the London Fashion Forum.
The Vision of the school highlights the commitment to breaking new boundaries in both the teaching techniques and the curriculum.
“Our vision is that education is a whole life enterprise closely related to the well-being of the communities in which we live. The prime task of Langley Park School for Boys, is to provide all pupils with equal access to a broad relevant and dynamic curriculum which reflects local needs, giving parity to vocational studies, emphasising industry links and underpinned by the broader goals of responsibility, tolerance, self reliance and a lifelong interest in learning.
Langley Park School for Boys is a place where all students are encouraged to achieve the highest academic and social standards, feel secure and important and in which cultural diversity is prized. Where there are special needs these must be assiduously met. The school will continue to promote music, drama, art and sporting life as central elements of its success and appeal to pupils. The sustaining and strengthening of existing and new extra curricular activities and competitions are crucial to the school’s future.
The time is now right to develop ICT across all aspects of teaching, learning and school management giving pupils and teachers the technological skills they will need for the future. We will work together to improve the school’s facilities and plan for replacement of worn out buildings. These are challenges that will be met alongside a determined effort to build stronger links with the local community, partner schools, universities, industry and other agencies to the benefit of pupils and staff. We will be energetic in school development planning to improve learning and teaching through monitoring and self-evaluation. We will vigorously pursue additional resources through specialisation and bids to the LEA, DfES and other funding bodies both on our own and in partnership with other organisations.
We will work through a consultative process that draws staff and Governors together to meet the challenge of school improvement. As Governors and staff we share optimism, integrity, teamwork, commitment and good communication as vital principles we aspire to in all that we do.
