Calling All Hat Fanatics…
{mosimage}Hat fanatics are a special breed, once hooked they are rarely seen sans millinery. Those who appreciate a good hat or two should pop over to Dover Street Market where the 25th anniversary exhibition of Stephen Jones is currently under way. You’ll find examples of Jones’ work on all six levels from his ‘Handmade in England’ compilation that interprets traditional Britishness to his specially designed collection for the Comme des Garçons’ A/W 2005 ‘Broken Bride’ catwalk show. {mosimage}Model of the Moment…
Hoorah for women over 30! Advertisers are finally waking up to the fact that females post twenties want to see images of women that they can relate and aspire to. The latest run of well-known faces to hit the campaign trail includes Demi Moore, Madonna, Sharon Stone, Andie MacDowell and now Kim Basinger. True, they all look much younger than their age implies but at least it’s a step in the right direction. Basinger was recently named as the Spring/Summer 06 face to front Miuccia Prada’s Miu Miu campaign. Now 51, Basinger started out as a model before her acting career took over in the early 80s.
From Miu Miu to H&M
On the subject of Miuccia Prada, there’s a rumour knocking around that she could well be the next designer to collaborate with High Street giant H&M. After hit collections from Karl Lagerfeld and Stella McCartney tongues have been wagging as to who will be guest designer number 3? Prada confirmed that she had been approached by H&M in a recent Colin McDowell interview but remained silent on the details. She continued to say that she thought the ‘concept was interesting and that it should be treated as a whole new innovation rather than a cheaper copy of the main line.’
