Djurdja Watson’s Treasure Trove

21-12-2005

In a relatively short space of time Djurdja Watson has established herself as a top notch jewellery designer with plenty of glossy media coverage to match. Her work has already been spied in the likes of Vogue and Elle and as of next year she’ll be adding prestigious department store Liberty’s to her rather impressive stockists list.

While jewellery remains top of Djurdja’s passion list – travel comes a close second and the two are intrinsically linked with trinkets and charms sourced from all corners of the globe. For Spring/Summer 06 she combines semi-precious stones with organic forms such as wood and shell. Bracelets, necklaces, earrings, brooches and rings not only look stunning but tell a story – of a Djurdja Watson experience.

Q Tell us a bit about your background, when did you first discover that you wanted to get involved with fashion accessories, did you go to fashion/art college etc?

Djurdja: I studied textile design in Serbia, which is where my childhood love of jewellery grew. I moved to London and began working for the established Erickson Beamon.

Q Financial pressures are enormous for new designers – how did you find the process of setting up your own business and boutique?

Djurdja: Hard but extremely satisfying.

Q Could you give us a taster of your Spring/Summer 2006 collection…

Djurdja: As ever, I seek inspiration from around the globe and this season is no exception. From the relaxed beach vibe of organic textiles such as wood and shell – to the sophisticated boldness of Swarovski crystals and semi precious beads.
