London routes take off for Delta
Think London’s expertise helped Delta Air Lines, a leading transatlantic airline, upgrade their west London contact centre and move to a new, first-class facility. “We obviously looked at all our options. But the fact is that we are handling 17 different languages at the London contact centre and there is nowhere else on the planet where we could find that wealth of talent and the variety of language capabilities that will serve us. City is top of the list for Chinese
The trend for Chinese companies who are said to be weighing up London listings, AIM in particular, shows no sign of slowing according to City advisors. Chinese companies looking to London are met with an enthusiastic response from investors acutely aware of the country’s growth prospects.
London City Airport launches PrivateJet
London City Airport is extending its corporate aviation offer with the launch of PrivateJet, an executive jet charter brokering service. PrivateJet will attend to every detail from initial quotation through to the VIP catering on board and takes advantage of the growth in demand for private jet hire.
Transport – new Oyster deal announced
A deal that will help London’s rail passengers get the full benefit of Oyster cards and lay the foundations for a nationally accepted smartcard ticketing scheme has been struck. Transport for London has agreed that Oyster validation equipment will be available at all London rail stations and they will also be working with the Department for Transport to ensure that Oyster equipment is capable of accepting other smart cards.
Businesses urged to gear up for Games
Businesses across the UK have been urged to ensure they are prepared to make the most of the opportunities presented by the 2012 Games. Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) Chair Jack Lemley also reassured companies that the vast majority of Olympic contracts have yet to be tendered.
2012 fundraising ahead of schedule
The National Lottery operator Camelot has announced that sales of 2012 Games scratchcards have reached Â£16.3 million – Â£2.3 million ahead of target. The National Lottery will contribute up to Â£1.5 billion to the costs of the London Games.
Creative London launches ‘degrees of creativity’ promotion
‘Degrees of creativity’ showcases the work of over 3,000 creative graduates right across London in a series of public events, which started in May. No other city in the world allows you to see and spot its creative stars like London does.

The London Design Festival, which takes place in September showcases an incredible array of exhibitions and events taking place across London. The Festival has quickly established itself as an important international event and is an ideal opportunity for designers to showcase their work.
Â£10 million Whitechapel gallery expansion plans are unveiled
Ambitious plans to expand one of east London’s most popular art attractions have been announced. The Â£10 million development of the Whitechapel Gallery which involves the unification of two landmark buildings in east London will increase the gallery size by 78 per cent and treble the amount of training and education space.
UK & Mexico sign trade agreement in Vienna
The UK and Mexico have signed a bilateral Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement in Vienna. This agreement will offer investors, shareholders and both governments a mechanism for bilateral protection of their investments in the UK and Mexico.

These awards are the first to be created by any government to specifically recognise India’s global business influence and success. UK Trade & Investment invites Indian and UK companies excelling in knowledge based industries, including ICT, Software, BPO, Pharma, Biotech, Healthcare, Automotive, Engineering Services to submit nominations in a range of categories.
