There are a variety of trends around at the moment particularly amongst High Street retailers that are displaying key statements this season.

One thing that seems to scream out is the use of repeat styles from 60’s shapes, to 70’s prints and 80’s colours being found on the same fashion floor and being mixed together to create unique style. Although high waists have been featured in last season’s styles, it has continued to be a popular fashion choice. Teamed with pleated minis and shift dresses the 50’s silhouette and 60’s styles form a bold statement this year!

Patterns also play a huge part in creating a statement this season. Monochrome, dogtooth and colourful retro prints on dresses and scarves. As well as animal print, which has also featured in several decades of fashion. However one of the biggest statements on the catwalk and now the high street this autumn and winter is Tartan. In many colours such as green, red, grey and blue and seem to be at the forefront of each style. For instance cute and feminine strapless dresses compared to short mini rock chick skirts. Prints are made key this season as they are available in every type of garment and accessory; bags, coats, tights, shoes, trousers, dresses and more!

One of the main statements fashion is really emphasising this winter is the use of over sizing, which is great because it suits everyone. We are seeing huge bags, wide belts, big buckles, chunky heels and oversized knitwear. This ties in with trends such as layering, where skinny jeans or leggings can look stylish and comfortable worn with a couple of vests, a long sleeve top and an oversized cardigan. Also this is great for work as you can use layering to create two different looks, a metallic or sparkly vest with a loose v neck jumper or tank top with neck scarf and maybe some shorts and tights. Remove the jumper and neck scarf, which fits into oversized bag, and your ready for a night out!

The key statements to look out for in Autumn/Winter 06/07 are, Retro shapes and styles, which can be mixed and matched, shift dresses, leggings and hints of metallic. Prints, strong tartan or striking monochrome. Oversizing, with all accessories and items of clothing particularly knits just in time for winter! These can all be teamed with bold colours such as mustard yellows or fuchsia pinks. This season fashion wants women to be bold and daring!
