Nocturnal Art Salon – TescoDisco
16-10-2006
Don’t you just hate it when you’ve mentally circled a few exhibitions you fancy checking out in your weekend ‘what’s on’ guide only to be confronted with ‘closed’ or ‘last entry at 5pm’ signs come the end of a working day. Going at the weekend isn’t much fun either, unless you like shuffling around en masse like a pack of penguins combined with an ear full of ‘other people’s opinions’.
Thankfully, there’s a new weekly nocturnal art salon that’s making all the right noises. While showing art in a club/bar setting may not sound particularly new – ‘TescoDisco’ promises an experience that is totally unique. Each week a combination of art, installations, live performance and music complement a monthly theme.
During the month of October the genre happens to be ‘Disintegration’ and this week it’s the turn of The Real Turner Prize by The Stuckists. As you’ve probably guessed it’s a tad more alternative than a few wall paintings with some random lounge CD on shuffle. So what to expect this Wednesday…music from The Deptford Beach Babes and Ella Guru, resident DJs – Kitten, Emily Strange, Tet Yap, Chris ‘Flatline’ and Art/Performance by – Jaqueline Jones, Joe Machine, Paul Harvey, Godfrey Blow, Philip Absolon and Charles Thompson.
Tesco Disco also welcomes creative collaborations with the fashion community so keep your eyes peeled – or get involved www.tescodisco.co.uk
